Most of the time, if I dream, I don't let it bother me too much. Saturday night/Sunday morning I had a dream that I will not soon forget. I was in a place that looked like a bi-level house with a large swamp in the back yard. I have no idea why I was at the house, but I entered it by a large spiral staircase on the side. I went to the basement first. My Grandma and Grandpa Lyon, Shirley Zimmerman, and Grandma Haskins were in a banquet room at the head table with large white walls behind them. I immediately thought "this isn't real, 3 of the 4 of them are dead and they can't all be together". But I was more than excited to see my grandparents and Shirley. When I asked any questions or tried to dialoge with them, they just looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders and didn't respond. This only lasted a few seconds but I did charish the moment.
Sunday in church, we sang a few hymns that came from the WOW Hymns. The service started a little slower than the norm and so my mind began to wander and all kinds of thoughts ran around lose. I remembered our discussion on worship so I put that to use. I chose not to listen to the thougths (as I am learning in my counseling sessions) and see what I had to offer for worship. I had probably one of the biggest smiles on my face!!! I had a bonding experience with my grandparents. I enjoyed those songs more than I ever had before, and I give credit to the dream I had the prior night.
It was a reminder that no matter how old/young we are, we are never, NEVER to not praise and worship our maker. I have been very deliberate lately with Ryan and getting him to understand what prayer is and we are never too old or young to pray. And there is no correct way to do it...just that we are.

Dreams...

First of all, that is awesome to hear. I've had some dreams sort of like that in the past. (One including my dad)... I actually ran to the door to meet him and sadly he wasn't there. (No Kirby, I was awake at this point) It was really cool to see him again. I wish we could conjure those up just so we could say we talked with our grandparents, dad, etc.
Just last night (and Kaitlyn usually asks), Kaitlyn asked me to pray for her before she went to bed. Now I normally view this at a tactic to stay up for five more minutes, but last night I just realized the witness I am putting in her by doing that. You never know how much those small choices will effect others.

I just finshed doing a 40-day bible study for our small group. In that 40-day I also did a David fast from the Wii and Playstation. Talk about hard!!!! I came home and told Jaimy that I had completed my study and Ryan overheard that. He asked "Dad, did you finish your bible reading? That is cool! Can you play Wii now, I have been waiting forever to teach you how to do it." With a child like faith, that is leading by example.
A lot of times, God uses dreams to try and tell you something. With this dream, I think God is telling you something. Read Isaiah 25:6-9 and Luke 14:15-24. Pay attention especially to verse 23.
I think it's dangereous if you try not to listen to all your thoughts. God can use them for good, or Satan can use them for evil. You need to learn to discern where the border is and use what you have learn when you know you are going to cross the line. Otherwise you may be missing out on time with God and a lot of things that God wants you to know
Also look at Romans 12:1-2. I have always taken this to mean that I should live my entire life as an act or worship. It doesn't start on Sunday mornings. You always have something to offer God (don't let anyone tell you otherwise), even if it is just simply loving Him and obeying Him. And at the core of it---isn't that all he really wants?
One of the first verses that I taught the kids was 1 Thess 5:17. It helped them understand prayer. Might want to teach it to Ryan.
